Speaker Bios
Mistress of Ceremonies: Evy Ramos Co-Anchor of
CBS 47 This Morning
Evy Ramos co-anchors CBS47 This Morning with Mike Scott and Jenny Toste. Evy Ramos is excited to be back in Fresno working for CBS 47! Evy started her career at E! True Hollywood Story where she was an associate producer. She soon found herself in Fresno in 2005 working at KMPH as a member of the morning show. While in Fresno she fell in love with the community. She and her husband, Erick, loved attending Grizzlies, Falcons, and Fresno State games. But after 2 years, Evy left to become a reporter and anchor for KGTV in San Diego.

Being from southern California, Evy was happy to be back home for a couple years. When the opportunity to return to Fresno opened up, both she and her husband enthusiastically accepted. Evy was born in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico the eldest of seven children. She was raised in Orange County and graduated from USC with a degree in broadcast journalism. When she isn't working, Evy enjoys spending time with her husband, their 1 year-old son Evrick, and their miniature poodle Kiki.
Keynote Speaker: Congressman Jim Costa
Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, California's 20th district
During his first term in office, Congressman Costa put together a broad-based bipartisan coalition aimed at developing a Regional Water Plan for Central California. He also led the negotiations between the City of Fresno and the State of California that secured the final funding necessary to complete and open the new Amtrak station in Fresno. During the 109th Congress Costa continued to be an outspoken advocate for building High Speed Rail Systems in California and across the nation and played a leading role in the bipartisan effort to secure Highway 99 funding in the infrastructure bonds approved by California voters in November 2006. In addition, Costa was a principal in the successful bipartisan effort to secure Congressional approval of plans to keep Fresno's 144th Air National Guard Fighter Wing viable well into the future. The principal author of state legislation to create the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, Costa continues to work with local and state officials to clean up the Valley's air.

Costa's legislative initiatives have including sponsoring a bill directed at resolving the beef crisis between the United States and Japan, legislation to extend the Farm Bill and helping draft the legislation which is a result of the Friant Water Settlement. He also was one of the leaders in the successful attempt to retain VOCA funding.

His efforts during the 109th Congress won Costa recognition from National Organization for Victim Assistance, which named him recipient of the Donald E. Santarelli Public Policy Award for demonstrating outstanding public policy leadership that has national impact. The American Farm Bureau Federation, named him a recipient of its "Friend of the Farm Bureau" award and Costa received the "Spirit of Enterprise" award by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
2010 Legislator of the Year: Clovis Mayor Pro Tem Jose Flores
As a captain for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement has been a professional focus most of his adult life. Jose is also sensitive to challenges facing small business owners and others in the private sector. That’s because 35 years ago his parents opened the doors to a small Mexican food restaurant in Old Town Clovis. Working for them, he learned the importance of community support for a small business. He also discovered the value of a well-run local government, one that encourages businesses while keeping a close eye on government spending and local taxes. It’s the same conscientious approach behind the success of a newly developing Central Valley Research and Technology Park in Clovis. On the 180-acre campus, sites of up to three acres are available to technology-focused firms looking to expand, start up or relocate.
Central California Champion Award Winner: Colleen Curtis, Chief Executive Officer
Colleen Curtis, Chief Executive Officer joined the organization in 2002 as the Chief Financial Officer. In December 2008, Ms. Curtis assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer. She brings over 25 years of financial leadership experience to the company. Colleen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Fullerton in 1984. She is the former CFO of Del Norte Clinics and Bear Valley Community Hospital. Colleen not only expertly provides leadership to the corporations nearly 400 employees, but has emerged as the organization’s technology champion. She is rapidly building the IT infrastructure by introducing advanced technologies that are increasing organizational effectiveness and service delivery capacity. Ms. Curtis is hard at work to meet the needs of the underserved while battling a decreasing state budget and satisfying the expectations of the federal government.
